A lifelong, faithful member of Conway Baptist Church, Grannie Zimma Gray was the perfect example of a Southern Belle. Two sisters married two brothers and from those beginnings a big beautiful family was born. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Holiday's were her favorite and she made them special with her Popcorn Balls at Halloween, Fruit Lizzies at Christmas, and Pineapple Cake for every occasion.
She loved to cook and continued these traditions well into her latter years for her whole family.
Always ready for a laugh, she was known for her practical jokes and pranks and loved scaring all the kids with her stories.
Her family remembers her for her love for the Fighting Farmers Football, her distinct southern dialect, cheering on her children and grandchildren at ball games,
talking on the Conway Party phone line, listening to her First Responder Scanner-while keeping all of the neighborhood up to date on the latest news-and in her younger days, attending dances at the American Legion Hall, and especially riding the pastures and fishing her ponds. Every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild was her favorite and each one has their own special memories of her. In her last days, her hospital room was filled with her family and all of the wonderful stories of her life. As original as her name, Zimma Gray Phelps Futch was a one of a kind lady who has left her love on each and every one of her family.
