Vance Allen
Horton
May 9, 1966 — Feb 14, 2022
Bernice
Vance Allen Horton was born May 9, 1966. He made his journey home on February 14, 2022 after a 12 year battle with cancer where he was reunited with his parents, "Big" Eddie and Linda Horton, his twin brother, Vince, and baby brother, Tootie.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 35 years, Sherry Lay Horton; a daughter, Jessica Lay, and her children, Ariel and Adrian "Gu" of Bernice; a son, Daniel S. Horton, Sr. and wife Windy, and their children, Merick, Avalon, Elizabeth, Jersey, and Daniel "Dj", Jr. of Bernice; a daughter, Skiler F. Munguia and husband David, and their children, Aloani, Vincent, Malayha, and Navaeh of Bernice; a son, Kassey A. Horton, Sr. and wife Lateja, with their children, Jamarious, Aja, Kassey "Kj", Jr., Preston, and Oaklee.
He is also survived by two brothers, Eddie Wayne Horton and wife Donna of Bernice, and Richard Horton and wife Brenda of Calhoun; two sisters, Sissy Youngblood and husband Robert of Ruston and Jeanette Horton of Sterlington; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Vance's smile and laughter was contagious. He took pride in his work and never let cancer control him. He was a loving husband, a proud father, and an adored "papa", and he found joy in making jokes with his daughters/sons-in-law. The courage, strength, and faith he carried is an inspiration to all who knew him. Though he leaves us with only the memories of him, the memories will forever guide us to live as he did. Thank you, Vance, for blessing us with the years we shared, until we meet again. Take a deep breath and rest. You're finally home. We love you.
Those chosen to carry him to his final resting place are Daniel Horton, Kassey Horton, Ariel Lay, Adrian Lay, Terry Lay, and Michael Smith. Honorable pallbearers are Ricki Butts, Robert Cline, and David Martinez.
