Funeral services for Tommy Larry Franklin, age 84 of Marion, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Marion, LA, with Bro. Don DeLukie and Bro. Bubba Hoggett officiating. Interment will follow at Roark Allen Cemetery in Marion under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Tommy Franklin had a personality larger than life and lived his life to the absolute fullest. He put a smile on everyone's face with his kind heart and playful words. He loved the Lord and his family deeply and had a true servant's heart. He was a selfless man who faithfully served his neighbors and community and would offer you the shirt off his back. Some of the many hobbies he enjoyed were water sports including scuba diving, skiing, and slinging people off of tubes, building and flying planes, rebuilding cars, truck driving across the country, and hunting. He was also infamous for racing cars, driving wide-open on motorcycles, ripstick riding, and storytelling. Most importantly, he was a loving, devoted husband to his wife, Joanie, and loved spending time with his family and showing up to support his grandkids in everything they did. Tommy left us with a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and friendship that will be a blessing to all generations.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, James Hubert and Wanda B. Ritchie Franklin; brothers, James and Jerry Franklin; and the mother of his children, Carolyn Paine Franklin.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joanie Buffington Franklin; children, Julie Franklin, Amy Franklin, Joshua Schmitt (Brook), and Ashley Dalrymple (Boyd); brother, Kenneth Franklin (Becky);sister in law, Bonnie Franklin; eight grandchildren, Amber McKinnie (Tony), Adam Byrnside (Kelsey), Roman Womble, Landon Jinks, Bo Dalrymple, Brock Dalrymple, Cooper Barkley, and Teddie Ella Schmitt; great grandchildren, Masy Taylor, Milli Bell Taylor, Maze and Meadow Taylor, and Alexander Nicholas Robinson; and his special nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Schmitt, Cooper Barkley, Wes Franklin, Kenneth Franklin, Brock Dalrymple, Bo Dalrymple, Boyd Dalrymple, and Adam Byrnside. Honorary pallbearers will be Dump Patrick and Buddy Maroney.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, prior to the service, Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Marion.
