Stephen Christopher Regesch, 86, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He was born on December 2, 1939, in Springfield, Massachusetts and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He carried the values of faith in Christ, dedication, and service with him throughout his entire life.

Steve, as he was known, was above all, a devoted child of God whose faith was firmly rooted in Jesus Christ. His relationship with Jesus was the foundation of who he was and how he lived each day. Not a day went by without him speaking about his love for the Lord and reading the Bible. He found great joy in sharing the message of salvation and Christ's love and encouraging others to grow their faith in Christ. For many years, he served faithfully in his church as a Sunday school teacher and elder.

During his childhood in New York, his visits to Ebbets Field with his father to see the Brooklyn Dodgers and Jackie Robinson made powerful memories that he spoke about his whole life. For many years, Steve had a passion for running, and travelled the country to run in many well-known marathons. Later in his life, he enjoyed writing poetry and inspirational spiritual literature, often sharing encouraging letters with loved ones and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirley. He is also survived by daughters, Christina (Dax) DeCelle and Pam (Steve) Kellogg; his stepson, Rick (Tanya) Clark; and his sister, Kathy (John) Updike. He was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a cherished niece and dear friends. He had a special bond with his pastor and friend, Bro. Robbie Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Laura (Ken) Beyersdorf; his parents and siblings.

His family and friends will remember him for his unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Farmerville First Assembly Church in Farmerville, Louisiana, Friday, March 6th, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service at First Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
