Funeral services for Ms. Shirley Janet Graham, age 90 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Farmerville with Bro. Kurt Auger officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Spearsville, LA under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Janet was a graduate of Farmerville High School where she excelled in softball and basketball. She was awarded the title Most Outstanding Player for basketball for three seasons. She later coached and played softball for her church and coached girls league for many years. She continued to play into her 60's. Janet retired from Union Parish School Board as a bus driver and paraprofessional teacher. She loved to visit and minister to the residents at nursing homes and hospitals. Janet cared about people and their salvation and she prayed "All would come to know the Lord". She was a good Christian mother and a friend to many. She followed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to many of their sporting events. She was an avid Saints and Cowboys football fan as well as an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Janet was an active member of her beloved First Baptist Church, Farmerville, LA, for over 50 years.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Plumer and Bertha Hodge Parker; four brothers: Howe Parker (Evon), Leon Parker (Faye), H.P. Parker (Gisela), and Milas Parker (Peggy); and five sisters: Eunice Parker, Bernice Savage (Rupert), Kathleen Hudson, Louise Lonidier, and Mary Cunningham.
She is survived by her son: Ricky Graham (Pam); two daughters: Sonya Modisette (Benny) and GayNell Pepper (Mazion); two grandchildren: Leanne Arant and Emily Prouet (Philip); step grandchildren: Wayne Butter (Shannon), Justin Pepper (Lori), and Jolie Harrison (Andy); great grandchildren: Jacob, Saige, Tristan, Parker, Graham, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Cooper, Linden, Taylor, Colten, and Cajan; great great grandchildren: Oakee and Angie; brother: Lindy Parker (Virginia); and sister in law: Laraine Parker.
Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Rogers, Timothy Parker, Ben Jones, Kevin Parker, Leon Parker, and Gregg Parker.
The family would like to thank Elara Caring, especially Taylor Allen and Shirley.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Farmerville.
