Funeral services for Sgt. Jerome McKenzie, 69, of Farmerville will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, near Point, La., with Bro. Robert Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Sgt. McKenzie passed away on July 27, 2019. Sgt. McKenzie attended Farmerville High School. On June 1, 1981, he began his Law Enforcement career with the Farmerville Police Department. In November of 1999, he continued his career with the Union Parish Sherriff's Office under Sherriff Bob Buckley and served under Sherriff Dusty Gates until his death after 20 years of service. He was also a member of the Farmerville Fire Department for 21 years. Sgt. McKenzie was very well respected as a Law Enforcement Officer and a friend and was fair and honest with those he came in contact with. He would tirelessly help others in need. Sgt. McKenzie will be remembered for his keen wit, his famous one-liners and the love he had for his family.

Sgt. McKenzie was preceded in death by his twin sons, Adam McKenzie and Aaron McKenzie; parents, Ed & Opal McKenzie; and sister, Vivian McKenzie.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Cheryl McKenzie; beloved granddaughter, Brittani McKenzie; three grandsons, Justin, Jeremy and Brandon McKenzie; two great-granddaughters, Bella and Audrey; sister, Kathy Duke; brother, Carl Ray McKenzie; two nieces, Carla and Kaitlin; great niece, McKenzie; numerous cousins; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Logan Brantley, Robert McKenzie, Tyler Austin, Hank Mathis, Josh Buckley and Steve Barmore.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
