Obituary

A funeral service for Mrs. Scarlett O'Hara Fitzgerald, 81, of Bernice, La., will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Connect Point Church in Bernice, La. with Bro. Rick Walters officiating. Interment will follow in Pisgah Cemetery in Bernice, La. under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Connect Point Church in Bernice, La. prior to the funeral service.

Scarlett O'Hara Fitzgerald, born November 28, 1940 in Shaw, La., went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She passed at her home in Bernice, La. surrounded by her family. Scarlett was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Scarlett spent her life taking care of the beautiful family that her and her husband, Graydon, created. You could often find her watching one of her television shows or in the kitchen cooking.

She loved making delicious food and often expressed her love through cooking. Scarlett made her living by cooking in restaurants or being a caretaker. She had a heart of gold and loved helping people. She never met a stranger. She loved to talk to people and brag on the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and also about how precious her great-grand babies were. Scarlett lived her life for the Lord and is now finding peace and comfort with Him.

Scarlett is survived by her children, Darryl Fitzgerald and wife Laura, Melony Kelly and husband Terry, Joanie Fitzgerald, and Tessa Fitzgerald; twelve grandchildren, Casey, Anna, Kerry, Dusty, Dustin, Brandon, Kyle, Cody, Olivia, Leyton, Daniel, and Hope; brothers and sisters, Bubba Knapp, Ellis Knapp, Jr., Eveleyn Smith, and Cathy Richardson; thirteen great grandchildren; along with other family members and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Graydon Fitzgerald; mother and father, Ellis and Dora Mills Knapp; daughter, Sharon Hux; granddaughter, Lacey Hux; and brothers and sisters, Melvin Knapp, Irene Lee, and Sharon Morace.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Gaskin, Kerry Gaskin, Daniel Garner, Cody Hux, Leyton Miller, Andrew Morrow, and Rusty Garner.
