A memorial service for Ruth M. Kennedy, 88, of Farmerville will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Aleck Nyegaard officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
Mrs. Kennedy passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Mrs. Kennedy was an avid coin collector, loved classical music and she enjoyed doing art. Mrs. Kennedy, at one point in life, sang with Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians. Mrs. Ruth was a Senior Olympic Spelling Bee Champion and was considered to be a Jill-Of-All-Trades. Her children considered her to be the best Mama in the world. Mrs. Kennedy held many positions in life, including a Notary Public, an Optometrist Assistant, an Artist Assistant, a Bookkeeper, Tax Preparer, Office Assistant, Sales Associate, Business Owner, Caregiver, Nanny and a gun-slinging Debt Collector.
Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents, Cossie & Mary Matthews; husband, Charles M. Kennedy; previous husband, Eldon H. Rogers; siblings, Ora Mae Wood, Edward Bright Matthews and Mary Jannet Edwards; and son-in-law, Raymond Snipe.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Marilyn Mathews; children, Theresa Snipe, Rebecca Rogers, David Rogers (Jackie), Julie Kennedy-Lindstrom (Jeremy) and Mona Kennedy-Cox (Garry); grandchildren, Justin Snipe (Sarah), Cody Snipe, David N. Rogers (Katie), Grace Cox, Natalie Rogers, Jaylan Vega, Caleb Vega and Lucas Rogers; great-grandchildren, Gracie Morrison, Bella Morrison and Colton Snipe; and a host of other family and friends.
