Funeral services for Mrs. Rita Faye Case Halley, age 85 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Rubin Weaver and Bro. David Byrnes officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Rita was born and raised in Monroe, LA.  She attended Ouachita High School and Northeast Louisiana University where she graduated in Education with an emphasis in Math & Arts.  She eloped with Mickey Joe at the age of 16 years old, but continued her education until she earned her Bachelors in Education.  She taught at numerous high schools in north Louisiana over her career and influenced many, many kids in one way or another. She enjoyed teaching higher levels of math the most.

Her hobbies were drawing and painting, traveling, hunting, dancing and singing.  She was super active in her church, and was music director for 42 plus years, always at Antioch Baptist Church.  After she retired as music director, she taught Sunday School until her death.  Her family, friends and the church family were the focus of her life for many years.  She insisted on cooking Sunday dinners for her family up until the very end...the bigger the pot, the better.

She loved everyone and was loved by many.  There will never be another one like Rita!  She will be sorely missed!

Mrs. Rita was preceded in death by her first husband, of 43 years, Mr. Mickey Joe Halley, Sr.; her second husband, Mr. Alvin Daugherty of 13 years; her parents, M.C. and Mary Laverne Moore Case; son, Mitchell Case Halley; sister, Betty Lee Case Halley; and numerous sisters in laws and brother in laws.

She is survived by her children, Mickey Joe Halley, Jr. (Elizabeth), Terrie Lee Halley Rogers, and Russell Case Halley (Renee); seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Peter Branch, David Byrnes, Gary Mashaw, Don Byrnes, Josh Whitner, and Jay Albritton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 3, 2023 at Antioch Baptist Church.
