Obituary

On Saturday, November 05, 2022, Richard Ryan Simpson took his final breath with his beloved brother, Kenny, by his bedside at Farmerville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Farmerville, Louisiana. He had been a resident there for over two years. Richard was born the third and youngest son of James M. and Amy Morris Simpson on August 28, 1958, in Farmerville, Louisiana. He graduated from Farmerville High School in 1976 and NLU in 1981. He held various positions in his lifetime, but his fondest title was Uncle. Richard dearly loved his nieces and nephew. He was the "Fun Uncle", taking them to movies, playing board games with them, or just being there if they needed him. After developing Type II Diabetes, his health continued to decline over the years. Twice doctors told him his leg needed to be removed because his foot wound would only continue to get worse and eventually take his life. By the Grace of God and countless prayers, Dr. Kerry Byrnes of Ruston, LA and his team, the first time and Fantasia and her awesome wound care team at the nursing home the second time, Richard left this world with both of his legs!

He was preceded in death by his loving parents and a sister-in-law, Sharon Shuff Simpson.

Left to cherish his memory are brothers, Marvin (Skipper) Simpson of Sterlington, LA, Kenny Simpson and wife Kathy of Conway, LA; nieces, Lisa Simpson Reed and husband Mike of Denham Springs, LA, Julia Simpson Bush and husband Mike of Katy, TX, April Simpson Kaheiki of Conway, LA, Amanda Simpson Mann and husband Justin of Sterlington, LA, nephews Michael "Shawn" Simpson and wife Vannette of Sterlington, LA, Brantley Simpson and wife Mandi, of Farmerville, LA, and Jonathan Anderson, numerous great nieces and great nephews, one great great nephew, a much loved aunt, Ophelia Simpson Autrey, and many many Morris and Autrey cousins.

Richard dearly loved his parents and never really got over their deaths. How wonderful to think the reunion there was in Heaven that day!

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Conway Baptist Church in Conway, LA with Bro. Will Englerth officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 2:00 PM preceding the service. Richard will be buried next to his parents at Antioch Cemetery at a later time. Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA is handling all of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family request you make donations to your favorite charity in Richard's name or donate to help with funeral arrangements to Farrar Funeral Home.
