Funeral services for Mr. Richard Delane "Monkey' Rhodes, Sr., age 58 of Marion, La, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Dean Baptist Church with Bro. Bubba Hogatt an Bro. Robin Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Dean Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Monkey was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with family and friends; he thoroughly enjoyed cooking for them and entertaining them. Monkey enjoyed spending time on the river where he loved to hunt and fish. He found great pleasure in hanging out with Chuck, Maynard, and Stoney. Monkey worked his whole life in the pipeline industry starting out as a laborer hustling skids and ended his career there as a mechanic on a directional drilling rig. He recently worked as a mechanic in the gas field. He was passionate about his grandchildren, Hudson and Alivia, and his grand pup "BO". Monkey had a humorous personality that lit up a room and always made everyone laugh. He will be thoroughly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Monkey was preceded in death by his son: Richard "Spanky" Rhodes, Jr.; mother: Juanita Rhodes; and his brother: Ronald "Frog" Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife: Vera Futch Rhodes; son, Tyree Elliot Rhodes; daughter in law: Brooke Rhodes; grandchildren: Hudson and Alivia Rhodes; father: Dewey Lane Rhodes, Sr.; brother: Dewey Lane "Jed" Rhodes, Jr. and wife JoAnn; sister: Terry Martinez and husband Lupe; sister-in-law: Peggy Rhodes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Monte Rhodes, Shannon Rhodes, Brian "Stoney" Johnstone, Michael "Buckshot" Benson, Kelley Jo "Dumpy" Patrick, and Michael Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifton "Chuck" Oliver, Roger "Maynard" Baker, Johnny Roberson, Virgil Brantley, and Kenny Webb.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Dean Baptist Church.
