Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Paul Wright Hayes, Sr., age 84 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, November 22, 2023 at Salem Baptist Church in Farmerville with Bro. Mike Deville officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Paul was married to the love of his life, Patty, for 62 years. He had 3 daughters he loved, cherished and often referred to them as his three girls.  He also had a son who was his pride and joy.

After graduating school he began his life pursuing a passion of a career in pipelining in the lower 48 states for Houston Contracting Company.  Several years later, Paul headed to Alaska to begin his career on the Trans Alaska Pipeline.  For the next 40 years he worked for Houston Contracting Company where he worked his way up to superintendent. After his retirement, Paul continued to consult with Houston Contracting Company due to his vast knowledge and experience.  Paul was also instrumental in helping other young men secure their job on the Trans Alaska  Pipeline where multiple generations are still benefitting from that help.

He was owner of Hayes' Farm.  He built and managed 8 poultry houses with his wife, Patty and son, Paul, all while working in Alaska.  Hayes' Farm also  managed cattle and grew hay.  Some of the grand children spent many a summer and holiday working on the family farm, where many life lessons where learned.

Paul had multiple interests and hobbies.  He was co-owner in a fishing development named Crooked Creek, where he fished often for salmon.  For a brief time, he even mined for gold in Hope, Alaska.  Paul was an avid duck hunter.  He loved hunting and loved the time spent with his duck hunting buddies. His love of fishing was so great, Paul began growing Catalpa trees for their worms. Paul adored his  many black labs,  rat terriers and the occasional stray.  HIs latest stray is known affectionately as Baby Girl.
