Funeral services for Mary Ellen Spurlock, 66, of Holmesville will be 2 PM, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Holmesville Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Whitman and Bro. Truett West officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mary, along with her daughter, Heather, by her side, entered her heavenly home on October 1, 2017 following a short, but courageous, battle with cancer. Heather, and other family members, had remained by her side from the very beginning of her illness.

Mary was born September 15, 1951 in Farmerville, Louisiana to J D and R V Bridges Spurlock, the youngest of 10 children. She grew up in the Holmesville Community and graduated from Farmerville High School, Class of 1969. She worked for Southland Corporation in Dallas, Texas for several years and spent her most recent years caring for those in need of help.

Mary felt so blessed to have her daughter, Heather and son-in-law, Cory, and to be the proud "Grammy" to her precious granddaughters, Mara and Emma, who were truly the light of her life. Serving the Lord and spending time with family, friends, and her church family were her priorities in life. Mary (a very good cook) enjoyed cooking and family reunions. Most of her traveling experiences were shared with her sister, Kat, and were spent visiting family. They spent many happy days on the road visiting Heather and family, her siblings, and others. She was a lifetime member of Holmesville Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in the choir, preparing food for church gatherings and for families during times of need.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Grayson, Johnie and Mack Spurlock; and sisters, Billie Ruth Jarrell and Callie Frost.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Heather Norris and husband, Cory; granddaughters, Mara and Emma Norris; sisters, Martha Rockett and husband, Sherwood, Betty Stidham and Kathelene Bryan and husband, Kenny; brother, Jimmy Spurlock and wife, Betty; brothers-in-law, Royce Jarrell and Steve Frost; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike Jarrell, David Jarrell, Dany Spurlock, Grayson Spurlock, Darrell Spurlock, Kenneth Bryan and Kasey Bryan will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 10AM to 2PM Friday at Holmesville Baptist Church.

In keeping with Mary's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holmesville Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
