Funeral services for Ms. Mary Jo Elliott, age 81 of Bernice, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Farmerville First Baptist Church with Bro. Michael McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Jo loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings. She loved her dogs and rescued anything that came to the house. Jo loved to watch the birds in the birdhouses she had built for them and she loved to garden. She could grow beautiful green beans and tomatoes. Jo often canned them up for Marvin and herself. She had a quirky personality and loved to express herself with her vibrant hair colors and hats. Jo was a hard worker, who didn't let her hearing loss slow her down. She loved giving her testament to her grandchildren and collecting pictures. Jo was well loved and will be dearly missed.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Edward Elliott; parents, J.O. Bankhead and Lillie McMillan; great grandson, Nathan Snyder; sisters, Shirley Clarkston and Carolyn Nichols; brothers, Gerald Bankhead, Willie Sims, Wesley Sims, and Wendell Sims.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Snyder (Richard); special friend and companion; Marvin Prestridge; grandsons, Richard Lee Snyder (Leigh) and Stephen Snyder; granddaughter, Jennifer Odom (David); seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Sims; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Cunningham, Roy Duffy, Stephen Snyder, Richard Snyder, and David Odom. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Keel.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, prior to the service, Saturday, April 13, 2014 at Farmerville First Baptist Church.
