A memorial service for Mary Atkins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be held at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Mary passed away on August 2, 2025.  Mary was a graduate of Downsville High School.  During her lifetime, she worked at the radio station in Farmerville, La. and The NewStar in Monroe, La.  After moving to Fort Smith, Ar., she retired from O.K. Foods as a Quality Control Inspector.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Mary was sassy, sarcastic and opinionated, in a good way.

Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Laster; parents, Ulyses & Susie Jones McCrary; and brothers, Eugene McCrary, Bill McCrary, Jim Bob McCrary and Fuller McCrary.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Byrnes (Scott); son, Daniel Rogers (Niki); grandchildren, Jessica Novak (Adam), Jadan Ferrell (David), Matthew Balsamo (Vittoria), Chelsea Balsamo (Anthony) and Michael Evans (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Jameson, Micah, Mack, Joseph, Sabastian and Heath; sister, Hazel Kay; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
