Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Miller Alvis, age 86 of Downsville, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday February 2, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Louis Bartet officiating. Interment will follow in Ruggs Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Farrer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Alvis went to her heavenly home on January 29, 2023. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her family. She was firm, fair and genially loved by those who she came in contact with. She spoke to everyone and treated them with respect. Though small in stature, her family will remember her as the toughest and strongest woman they have ever known. Mrs. Mary will be missed by many in her community

Mrs. Alvis was preceded in death by her husband: Lenwood Alvis; her parents: Horace Miller and Evelyn Logan Miller.

She is survived by five daughters: Jennie Hudson, Liz Wooldridge, Laurie Doss (Kenny), Angie Alvis (Scott Bass), and Stephanie Alvis; three sons: Terry Alvis (Terry), Lenwood Alvis, and Warren Alvis; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and special family members: Tammy Wall Richardson, Andrew Canterberry, Ronald Jones, and Sherri Sant; her long time companion, her pet dog, Sneeky.

The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Unkel, Barbara Gates, and Elara Hospice for the loving care they gave to Mrs. Alvis.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Alvis, BJ Alvis, Gage Alvis, Josh Adkins, Justin Hurst, and CJ Soignier.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
