Marjorie Irene Cunningham-Smith, 89, was born April 1931 in Pittsburgh, California and passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Bernice, Louisiana.

Marjorie graduated from College of Pacific Class of 1952 and taught Elementary level for approximately 20 years at Don Pedro School in Ceres, Ca.

In 1955, she married her late husband of 38 years, Kelly Vernon Smith of Patterson, Ca. They lived in Ceres, Ca. and raised four children. She was an active member in both her church and community. She held the office of Worthy Matron and member of many years in the Order of Eastern Star, Ceres Chapter #296.

After retirement, they moved to Groveland, Ca. where Marjorie joined the Groveland Evangelical Free Church and was an active member in the choir. She also joined the Groveland Community Players performing in several community plays. Music was her love and she was a member of the Groveland Pinecone Singers for several years. In the past year, she attended Pine Grove Baptist Church of Bernice, La.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Vernon Smith; and her parents, "Cope" & Marie Franklin Cunningham.

Marjorie is survived by her four children, Michael Smith of Washington, Patrick Smith of Washington, Sharon Stewart of Louisiana and Kelly Smith of California; brother, Craig Cunningham and sister, Jean Halbasch both of California; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of loving relatives and close friends.

The family wishes to thank Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bernice Nursing and Rehab, and all of those who cared for her during her last days. Any donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
