Marie Dolores Fitzgerald, age 94, of Farmerville, LA, passed away May 21, 2026 after a brief illness.

Marie was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. While she was working in Goose Bay, she met a young airman named Donald from Bernice, LA. They married in 1951 and traveled all over the world during Donald's 23 year's with the USAF. She became  a US Citizen in 1956. Donald and Marie retired in Farmerville in 1970.

Marie was a great cook. She loved gardening and every summer, canned and froze the vegetables her and Donald grew. She painted, knitted, crocheted, and sewed. Marie made many quilts for her children. She was active in Senior Olympics and won many awards in Shuffleboard.

Marie worked part time at Howard Bros and then Walmart where she made many friends. Her retirement years were spent taking road trips with Donald.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband Donald T. Fitzgerald; son Donald A. Fitzgerald; mother, Viola; and three brothers, Rodney, Donald, and Willis.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Kyle, Brenda Allen, and Melanie Douthit (Jeff); brother Stewart; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date.
