A graveside memorial service for Lula Ball Hodge, age 87 of Marion, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Roark Allen Cemetery with Bro. Jed Rhodes officiating.
"Bawbaw" as everyone called her was born on August 21, 1935 in Choudrant, LA. She passed from this earthly home in Eldorado, AR, joining her husband, children, family, and friends in her eternal home with Jesus Christ on October 27, 2022, she will be surely missed by the ones she left behind here, but will be waiting with open arms for them to join her later.
Lula was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She also loved her pets. A graduate of Ouachita High School, she went to work with the secretarial office field, working in her younger years at several Ouachita Parish businesses. Later she worked at Century Telephone Company in several positions. She was a main volunteer in the early inception of North East Union Fire Department, helping any way with fundraising. She also worked for the Union Parish TRIAD in its early days.
Lula enjoyed her time at the piano until she could no longer play. She had a passion for crocheting, sewing, reading and working word games. She enjoyed time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lula had a special talent for being able to keep them entertained.
"BawBaw" will surely be missed by those she left behind, but their memories together will be with us forever.
Lula is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years John Willie Hodge, her father Emmett Ball, mother Nona Ball Ricks, son Stan Hodge, and her daughters Polly Ann Hodge, Dixie Rhodes and Alice Mckinnie.
Lula leaves behind a son: John Arthur Hodge, grandchildren: T – John McKinnie (Kaylie), Holly McKinnie (Bobby), Jessica McVicker (Jonathan), Jamie Bader (Philip), Jessica Marquardt (Arron), Kara Hodge, Jonathan Hodge (Emily), Katie Hollis (Benny), Dustin Rhodes (Kelsey), Kaitlyn Rhodes (Justin), and Sabre Hodge, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also left to cherish her memories are former daughter in law and close family friend Cheryl Alessi, son in laws: Grady McKinnie and Jed Rhodes, sister in law Melba Ruth Pouland, brother-in-law Spence Allen (Jane), and special niece Bobbie Hardy (Lewis).
