Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie "Popeye" Edward Pardue, Jr., age 92 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bor. David Byrnes and Bro. Rubin Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Popeye was a skilled welder and later became a welder tester while working in the Pipeline & Gas Industry. He traveled all around the USA taking pipeline jobs. His wife would join him throughout his travels, and occasionally, a few grandkids would tag along on these adventures.

As a young man, Popeye entered the Air Force and served in Korea. He was a deacon at Antioch Baptist Church for 52 years. He loved the Lord and made it known in his daily walk. He often joined John Drew and visited members of the community, later taking on his visits, solo. He was part of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and was also a Shriner for many years, as well.

Popeye was an outstanding member of his community who was loved by all. He met and entertained many people while he owned the store off and on through the years. He enjoyed waking up every morning and heading over to the store to drink coffee and catch up with the men of the community. He had a nickname for everyone who crossed his path.

He loved to go hunting and eat wild game. Cooking was a hobby he thoroughly enjoyed through the years. He enjoyed taking plates to the shut-ins & sick people in the community, feeding his family, or simply to just share his latest concoction with anyone willing to try it. Whatever he requested, Scott showed up with it. You never knew what was in that pot!

Road trips were one of his favorite pastimes. Every summer, he looked forward to vacation trips with his kids and grandkids. He loved spending time with and making lifelong memories with his crew at amusement parks, miniature golf, and loved attending country music shows. You better believe he would take off at the drop of a hat and take a road trip anywhere, but especially down south. He would say it was to visit family, but we all knew it was to stock up on Jerry Lee's boudin. Popeye loved to run the roads and was always looking for an excuse to run to town…and the faster he could get there, the better!

Lonnie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Grace Pardue; daughters, Sherry Acree, Phyllis Temple, and Toni Key; great granddaughter, Olivia Byrnes; and his brothers, Robert Pardue (Iris) and George Pardue.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Cranford "Bill"; grandchildren, Clay Farris (Holly), Josh Acree (Kim), Jeremy Farris, Caleb Temple (Candy), Brent Cranford, Shane Cranford (Emily), Jessica Bishop (Dustin), April Byrnes (Robert), Jenny Wade (Matt), and Candace Elliott; sister-in-law, Dorothy Pardue; son in laws, Darvin Acree (Sissy) and Royce Temple (Pat); and numerous great and great great grandchildren

Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of Antioch Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church.
