Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Vines Towns, age 92 of Marion, La will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA with Bro. Don Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Marion, LA.

L.V. Towns was born in Litroe, LA on July 19, 1931 to Oliver and Mary Estelle, there he grew up with his three siblings Elton Towns, Dennis Towns, and Mary Eloise Barham. On October 2, 2023 he met his Lord and Savior face to face surrounded by his loving children Linda, Bev., Richard, and Kayla, who he thought of like a daughter.

L.V. married the love of his life Josephine Reppond Towns on August 22, 1950. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children where the Lord blessed them for their faithfulness for 72 years and during these years, they were active members of Dean Baptist Church.

L.V.s life was an image of the American dream. He grew up in a simpler time raising stock by horseback in the Ouachita River bottom and hauling pulpwood to make extra money. Because of his hard work ethics, from there he went on to build a successful masonry company from 1962 to 1989. During this time, he also continued to grow the homeplace into the farm that's still in operation today and expands over five generations. L.V. had a love for people and used his humor and wit to build relationships with everyone he met. Although he joked often, he was serious about is faith in God, his principles, and his love he had for his entire family.

L.V. is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Josephine Reppond Towns; his parents Oliver and Estelle Towns; his two brothers Elton Towns and Dennis Towns; and one sister Eloise Barham.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Linda Murray (Tony), Beverly Walker (Doug), and Richard Towns (Kayla); his grandchildren Pam Roberson (Dicky), Wendy Weir (Kent), Jason Murray (Jessica), Chris Walker (Lauren), Courtney Saunier (Blake), Eric Walker, Brandon Towns (Shanna), Chad Towns (Mary Beth), and Casey Towns (A'naliese); thirteen great grandchildren Brooke Reeves (Roger), Russell Roberson, Janna Roberson, Kaylynn Roberson, Kelsey Weir, Oakli Bearden, Cooper Towns (Maddie), Cami Towns, Keegan, Charley, Brody Towns, Saywer Towns, Griffin Towns, Adalyn Towns, Shep Towns, and Sol Towns; and five great great grandchildren Trey Reeves, Gabi Reeves, Morgan Roberson, Lillian Towns, and Loralie Towns.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bro. Don Reeves, Arbor Lake Nursing Home, nurses, and the many friends he met during his stay there.

Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Jason Murray, Chris Walker, Eric Walker, Brandon Towns, Chad Towns, and Casey Towns. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Trey Reeves.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
