Obituary

Leon Mark Laskowski, age 87 of Farmerville, LA, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 in Ruston, LA.  He was born in Schenectady, New York, to the late William and Frieda Laskowski on March 7, 1937.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Farrar Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the service.

Leon graduated high school in Schenectady then attended Hudson Valley Technical School where he graduated in Mechanical Technology. Leon later attended La Tech and graduated with a degree in Speech Education.

Leon was a veteran of the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany from 1958-1964 as a radar equipment technician. He was an expert marksman, which earned him the honor of #1 Sharpshooter. Leon was a Speech Therapist for many years, where he enjoyed helping others.

He met the love of his life, Catherine Digby and they were married for 39 years during which they enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Leon was an avid artist and you would often see him pick up a pencil and start drawing anything he saw that he liked. He loved the Lord and while he was in the nursing home he would attend church services there on Sunday morning until his health started declining and he was no longer physically able to go. But you would still find him with his Bible in his lap every time you visited him. Leon was an avid reader and loved reading books of any kind, be it history, nature, or politics; but he would always ask for you to bring him anything related to the Bible.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frieda Laskowski; and one daughter, Debbie Hutson Silmon.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Catherine Laskowski; daughter, Bonita Hutson; grandson, Jarvis Dean Silmon, Jr.; and two great granddaughters, Marly Hodge and Kinzlee Silmon.
