Obituary

Lennie F. Darden, Jr. entered into his heavenly rest on July 10, 2019 at the age of 66, due to complications from kidney and heart failure. Lennie's faith in the Lord was greatly evident as he made the decision to terminate treatment after being on kidney dialysis for a year and with his health continuing to deteriorate.

Lennie was born on November 3, 1952 in Homer, La. and lived in Bernice, La. all of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann Key Darden; father, Lennie F. Darden, Sr.; maternal grandparents, James Thomas and Ola Beatrice Key; paternal grandparents, William Turner Darden and Lucy Coke Darden; nephew, Jon Eric Bowman; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Darden and Vickie Jo Darden. Survivors include his son, Matt Darden; brothers, David Darden and wife, Linda, Jeff Darden and wife, Barbara; sister, Jill Puckett and husband, Dennis; nephews, Dusty Darden and wife, Janda, Ryan Darden, Casey Darden, Brandon Darden, Christopher Darden and wife, Kristen, and Logan Puckett; niece, Megan Bowman; great nephew, Dylan Darden; great niece, Taylor Jean Darden; and special friends and neighbors, Christina Jackson and Rebecca Hardy.

Lennie was highly regarded in the oil field. He worked all over the world for over 36 years, serving as a drilling consultant for the last 8 years of his career, until his health worsened in 2008. He loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. More than once, he talked about the slabs of crappie he and fishing partners, Charles Harkins and Ronnie Harris, stole from Lake D'Arbonne. One of his most memorable hunts was harvesting an Alaskan Kodiak Brown Bear in 1980. He also had a talent for growing tomatoes, squash, and peppers which he loved to share with family and friends.

Burial will be at Pine Grove Baptist Church under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville with Bro. Steve Barrett officiating.

Pallbearers will be Billy Sandifer, Eric Harkins, Chuck Lowery, Danny Nutt, Mike LaRoe, Eddie Paul Evans, Kim Kelley and Bobby Harkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Harris, Billy McIntosh, Woody Dendy, and the Deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bro. Scotty McDowell's Ministry: International Edifying Christ Ministry 1145 Blade Loop Jena, La., 71342 or to Pine Grove Baptist Church 1187 Pine Grove Church Road, Bernice, La. 71222
