Keith Dwain Flowers, originally of Delhi, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

He was a strong man of faith and was fierce in his love of the Lord and of his family. An extremely hard worker, he ran a successful business for over 40 years with the help of his wife Bettye. He sometimes referred to himself as a  "junk peddler," selling everything from key rings to incense sticks at convenience stores in the surrounding regions.

Dwain hated to be idle and spent countless hours working hard around the yard. As a great skier and avid boater, he spent many hours teaching his daughters and their friends to ski. He developed a unique method of teaching them by using duct tape to hold the front of the skis together until the kids learned to balance.

When grandchildren came along, his new passion was entertaining them. Dwain could be found on weekends and holidays riding four-wheelers, flying model planes, and teaching the kids to dive in the pool he had built for his daughters years before.

Dwain never met a stranger. He loved to talk and connect with people, striking up conversations with anyone in his vicinity.  He could be identified immediately in a crowd by his loud "hello's" and his boisterous personality. His family and friends will remember him as a man who loved to tell a great story, loved to laugh and as someone who never did things by halves. His family would say his mantra was, "If a little will do a little good, a lot will do a lot of good."  Luckily for everyone, he loved to share. The staff at the cancer center he attended knew him as the man who passed out Fig Newtons and hard candy during his visits.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lozelle Flowers, and a sister, Sherry Arant. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bettye Traylor Flowers; three daughters: Kelly Robinson and her husband Michael of Memphis, TN;  Amanda Helton and her husband Carl, of Lakeland, TN; and Jennifer Logan and her husband Rusty of Blairsville, GA.  He is also survived by his sister, Carla Amelia Lawson and her husband Ronnie of West Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren: Ethan, Saylor, Eli, Samuel, Cash, Miriam, Wyatt, and Zeb; and one great-grandchild, Juniper. He was also looking forward with great joy to a second great-grandchild, Charlotte, and we hope to teach her all about him.

He will be remembered for his spontaneity, his great enthusiastic love of life, and for his animated driving style. He was one of a kind, a hard act to follow, and will be extremely missed by all of those who loved him.
