Funeral services for Mr. Junior Rex Black, age 73 of Spearsville, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Laran with Bro. DeWayne Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Laran Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Mr. Rex was known by many; he never met a stranger. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but he enjoyed coon hunting and coon dogs the most. He was a master carpenter and could build anything. He loved his family and grandchildren and had nicknames for most of them. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Mr. Rex is preceded in death by his parents: Grady and Bertha Lee Harrison Black, sisters: Jena Black and Karlene Dison, and his brother: Gary Wayne Black.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Johnson Black, five children: Penny Burchard (Kirk Weir), Tammy Ramsey (DeWayne), Kelly Jenning (Jeffery), Tina Dendy, and Dakota Black (Katherine), 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Justin Ramsey, Blake Ramsey, Schyler Pratt, Joshua Pratt, Landon Kash Burchard, Liam Black, Ryan Jerry, Brandon Goss, and Cody Fuller.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2023 at Hopewell Baptist Church.
