Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Julius Dell Simpson, age 77 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 2:00 Pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Farmerville First Assembly of God with Bro. Bill Bearden and Bro. Robbie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Acree cemetery in Downsville, LA under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Affectionally known by and called Julius Dale by his friends and coworkers, Inv. Simpson served the Town of Farmerville and Union Parish for over 25 years.

He began his law enforcement career in the early 1980's with UPSO and then began his career with the Farmerville Police Department in 1987. Shortly thereafter, he assumed the role as department investigator where he served until his retirement in 2012.  Inv. Simpson had a no-nonsense approach to his job and investigations but loved his coworkers and was never short of quick-witted remarks and jokes.  Outside of law enforcement, Inv. Simpson was a beloved father, grandfather, and avid outdoorsman until shortly before his passing. JD will be deeply missed by all those that knew and worked with him and we are especially thankful for his service to our community for all those years.

Julius was preceded in death by his parents: Julius Clayton and Audrey Mae Jones Simpson; and his brother: Bobby Lynn Simpson.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Peggy Lowe Simpson; three daughters: Melissa Abernathy and husband Jeremy, Loanne Ngo, and Jerrica Womack; son: Rodney Simpson; step son: Daniel Gilbert; two brothers: Charles Simpson and wife Becky and Randy Simpson and wife Janice; sister: Schelia Caskey; and grandchildren: Jeremiah Abernathy, Jasmine Simpson, Trinity Simpson, Sullivan Simpson, Linda Ngo, Lillie Ngo, and Simpson Ngo.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Abernathy, Jeremy Abernathy, Jason Boyer, Billy Jung, Robert Allen, Bobby Holly, and Trey Fulton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home and from 1:00 PM till 2:00 Pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Farmerville First Assembly of God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called Children of God" (Matt. 5:9).
