Joyce was born on August 18, 1928 to Marie Moring Elkins and Argo Elkins in Spearsville, Louisiana. Sadly, at the age of eight, Joyce lost her mother in death, but she was blessed three years later with her wonderful stepmother Alva Tucker Elkins. After graduating from Spearsville High School and working for a short time as a nurse's aide in El Dorado, Arkansas, Joyce fell in love and married Wayne Manning. The couple had three children: Debbie, Danny, and Dawn. Joyce was a homemaker who excelled in cooking and sewing clothes for herself and her family. She was also faithful to support her children in their activities.
Joyce was also very active in her church teaching Sunday school and leading mission organizations. She chaperoned girls on two trips to the National Acteens Conference. Joyce was very active in WMU both in her church and at the associational level. She also taught Vacation Bible School for many, many years.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Manning; son Danny Manning; grandson, Brad Aycock; parents; and siblings: Patsy Palmer, Sue Davis, and Boyce Elkins.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters: Debbie (Ronny) Aycock and Dawn Manning; grandson, Jess (Susan) Aycock; granddaughter Tina (Josh) Bolton. Joyce is also survived by four great-granddaughters: Jessika Aycock, Bailey Bolton, Claire Elise Bolton, and Tatum Aycock; five great-grandsons: Abbett Echols, Quaid Aycock, Austin Aycock, Dayton Bolton, and Jesse Wayne ("Deuce") Aycock II; two great-great-granddaughters: Madalynn Blizzard and Mackenly Echols; one great-great-grandson Colt Blizzard; and a host of other family and friends.
Honoring Joyce as pallbearers will be James Riley McAdams, Danny Rockett, Josh Rockett, Ricky Rockett, Rusty Rockett, and Doug Upshaw.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Allegiance Healthcare Hospice & Palliative Care for the compassionate care they provided over the past seven months, and also a very special thanks to Joyce's close friend and caregiver Jessica Williams.
