Josephine Reppond
Towns
Aug 30, 1934 — Sep 8, 2022
Marion
Funeral services for Josephine Reppond Towns, age 88 of Marion, La will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 10, 2022 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, La with Br. Don Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Marion, La.
Josephine Reppond Towns was born in Dean, Louisiana on August 30, 1934 to Frank and Louise Reppond, and there she grew up with her three siblings Jean Reppond Smith, Mildred Reppond Traylor, and Benny Reppond. On September 8, 2022 she met her Lord and Savior face to face surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Jo married the love of her life, Leonard Vines Towns, on August 22, 1950, at the age of 16. Together they built a beautiful life, raised three children where the Lord blessed them for their faithfulness for 72 years. During these years they were active members of Dean Baptist Church.
Jo was a lover of all things beautiful. She enjoyed traveling across country with her husband. She enjoyed red roses and had a green thumb in the garden. She was a talented painter, and has left behind many portraits for her family to enjoy for generations to come. The most beautiful view she enjoyed was watching her many grandchildren play. She would observe and soak in every moment with them, knowing well that time is a precious gift. Friendships were also precious to Jo. The book of Proverbs states that a true friend sticks as close as family. Mrs. Majorie Wisecarver was that friend to her for 60 plus years.
Jo is survived by her husband Leonard Vines Towns, three children Linda Murray (Tony), Beverly Walker (Doug), and Richard Towns (Kayla). Her grandchildren she leaves behind are Pam Roberson (Dickey), Wendy Weir (Kent), Jason Murray (Jessica), Chris Walker (Lauren), Courtney Saunier (Blake), Eric Walker, Brandon Towns, Chad Towns (Mary Beth), and Casey Towns (A'naliese). She will also be missed dearly by her 13 great grandchildren, and her five great great grandchildren.
When remembering Jo, Proverbs 31 26-31 comes to mind "She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice. Thank you, Phillip, Erika, and Gloria, for assisting and loving our mother and grandmother in her final days.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Murray, Chris Walker, Eric Walker, Brandon Towns, Chad Towns, Casey Towns.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 09, 2022, at Farrar Funeral Home.
