Funeral arrangements for Mr. John William VanOvermeer, age 68 of Downsville, LA, will be announced at a later time.

Mr. John was born in Detroit, Michigan. Later in life, he joined Michigan Laborers and retired from Michigan Trenching. He enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley. Mr. John loved animals and his nieces and nephews. He loved to sit on the front porch and listen to Willie Nelson and rock in roll music with his dog, Karma. Mr. John adored his Downsville family, Alex Wikinson, and the Zagone family.

Mr. John was preceded in death by his wife, Denise Smith VanOvermeer; his parents John and Jeannine VanOvermeer; brother, Timothy VanOvermeer; and his nephew, Gregory Landin.

He is survived by his brother, Ed VanOvermeer; sisters, Lynn Taylor (Ron), Kim Szegi (Jim), and Rebecca VanOvermeer; and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
