Memorial services for Jimmy Rowell of Marion, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Conway Baptist Church in Marion, LA., with Bro. William Englerth officiating. Burial will follow in Conway Cemetery Marion, LA, under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA.

Jimmy Rowell passed away September 27, 2022 after suffering complications from surgery.  Jimmy was born October 29, 1946, to Carline and Jesse Rowell in Monroe, LA.  He graduated from Farmerville High School in 1965 where he was a decorated member of the Farmerville Football Team. After graduation, he joined the United States Marines Corps where he served in the Viet Nam War. He was wounded in September of 1966, in the line of duty and as a result spent nine months recovering from his injuries.  He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Viet Namese Service Metal, the Viet Namese Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Rifle Marksmen Badge.

After returning to Farmerville, LA, he met and married the love of his life, Sharon Daniels Rowell, in May of 1969.  They were married for 53 adventurous years. Together they enjoyed traveling across Alaska and the lower 48 states as they raised their two daughters, Dana and Valerie.

Jimmy completed his Bachelor's degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Building Construction in 1974.  This began his 40 plus year career in the oil and gas industry.  He worked on the North Slope of Alaska from Kaparuk to Prudhoe Bay and finally in Anchorage before leaving Alaska. He then began working in the oil fields of Saudi Arabia and Canada, before settling down to work closer to home in the lower 48, until his recent retirement last year.

Jimmy was an avid sportsman and had many adventures hunting Dall Sheep, Caribou, and Moose in the Brookes Mountain Range of Alaska during the 1980's and 90's. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, being their #1 fan at their sporting events and teaching them to hunt and shoot.   He went on elk and deer hunts in northern Idaho and West Texas, making sure he saw his grandkids kill their 1st deer. In these last few months, he enjoyed spending time with his family and reconnecting with lifelong friends.  He also enjoyed many hours hunting his squirrel dogs, Dan and Sam, in the De'Loutre Bottom.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Rowell Fradella, his mother, Carline Rowell, his brothers, Jerry Wayne Rowell and Billy Rowell.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sharon Rowell, daughter, Dana Rowell Woody and husband Cory Woody, four grandsons: Garrett Fradella and fiancé Hannah Blake, Gabriel Fradella, Jacob Woody and fiancé Aliyah Blue, and Jimmy Woody. Two granddaughters: Dara Woody and Kyra Stimmel and husband Jeffery Stimmel, and two great-grandchildren, Cleo and Maverick Stimmel. Brothers; Jesse Lee Rowell, Johhny Rowell and wife Suzette, and Tex Rowel along with numerous nieces and nephews.

We express special thanks to his dear friend, Huey Tatum, for being so very attentive and caring during Jimmy's illness.  We appreciate all the many friends and family members who supported Jimmy and Sharon during his illness.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, September 30, 2022 at Conway Baptist Church.
