Funeral services for J. H. Franklin, 99, of Marion, La. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Marion with Bro. Bubba Hoggatt officiating. Interment will follow in Roark Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
Mr. Franklin went to his heavenly home on February 11, 2021. Mr. Franklin served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theater on a submarine tender, USS Sperry. When he arrived in Marion, La. in 1957, having traveled all over the south working and providing for his family, he said Marion was the best place he had ever been and planted his roots there. Mr. J.H. spent most of his life as an owner/operator in the trucking industry. Mr. Franklin was a hard worker who loved his family dearly. He had a nickname for all of his children and grandchildren. Mr. J.H. was one of the founders of the North Monroe Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church, Marion.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Wanda B. Franklin; sons, James Franklin and Jerry Franklin; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Franklin, Judy Franklin and Marta Cole; sister, Bernice Phillips; and brother, A.J. Franklin\
Left to cherish his memory are sons, Tommy L. Franklin (Joanie) and Kenneth Franklin (Becky); daughter-in-law, Bonnie Franklin; grandchildren, Pam Taylor (Gary), Greg Franklin (Rhonda), Traci Franklin, Julie Franklin, Josh Schmitt (Brooke), Amy Albritton, Kari Borgman (Ben), Bryan Strother (Sharon), Wes Franklin (April), Lindsey Redd (Erik) and Ashley Darlymple (Boyd); nineteen great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Greg Franklin, Wes Franklin, James Franklin, Nick Cash, Erik Redd, Bryan Strother and Josh Schmitt.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. ~ 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Marion.
