Funeral services for Jerry L. Smith, 83, of Dean will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Dean Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mr. Smith went to his heavenly home on August 9, 2019. Jerry was an active member and Deacon at Dean Baptist Church. He worked as a Control Room Operator for Thermatomic Carbon Company and retired from IMC/Koch in Sterlington. Those who knew Jerry noticed and learned much from his work ethic and never ending pursuit to care for his family, that he has passed down to his children and family. Jerry was a plain, simple man who was talented in many different fields. He was very kind and extremely honest with a great sense of humor and wit. Jerry was a loving husband, father and Pa to his grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Pervis Smith; mother, Doris Irene Popwell; and step-father, Douglas Popwell.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Judy Smith of Dean, La.; son, Shane Smith (Lori) of Farmerville, La.; daughters, Trinky Jones (Ronnie) of Spencer, La., Sandy Smith (Tim) of Sterlington, La. and Lisa Cain (Chris) of Linville, La.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and family.

Pallbearers will be Chris Mike, Erik Nolan, Jason Matthews, Ryan Conley, Mike Jones and Eddie Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Stanley, Matt Tucker, Roger Baker, Larry Phillips, Ronnie Jones and Tim Smith.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
