Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Lane Rugg, age 75 of Downsville, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 5, 2025, at Downsville Methodist Church with Bro. Hank Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Downsville City Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Jerry Lane Rugg passed on to be with our Father in Heaven on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. Jerry had many things he was personally blessed with, some of which were being a loving husband of over 50 years., an uncle, a father, and a grandfather. He was a graduate of Downsville High School and Louisiana Tech University. His professional life included being a successful Professional Land Surveyor for over 45 years, a duly elected member of the Union Parish Police Jury as well as serving on the board of Louisiana Professional Land Surveyors. His hobbies included buying and selling land, working on classic cars, and being a mentor to a multitude of up-and-coming land surveyors (as well as a mix of future doctors, engineers and various other professionals) in Louisiana.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Rugg; and his mother, Ruth Rugg.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and their three children, Rosemary (Jeremiah, Cooper, Bailey, and Ethan Johnson), Jared (Tracie) and Jake (Edie), as well as his brother, Eddy; sister, Mary Ruth; and eight grandchildren, Ethan, Georgia (Slayde Berry), Allie, Gabrielle, Lily, Carter, Amelia, and Kate.

Jerry was one of a kind and he will be sorely missed here on earth.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Hicks, Ethan Rugg, Carter Nicholas, Jeremiah Johnson, Harry Hinton, Don Antley, Doug McGehee, Andrew Bull, Josh Stewart, and Reggie Skains.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service , Friday, December 5, 2025 at Downsville Methodist Church.
