Visitation for Mr. Jeffery Stuart Ernst, 58, of Bernice, LA, will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Farrar Funeral Home, 312 Smith St., Farmerville, LA. Funeral Services and Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, 325 Liberty Baptist Church Rd., Marion, LA, with Rev. Bruce Rux officiating.

Mr. Ernst (or Jeffie to his friends and family) was born September 30, 1963, in Monroe, LA, and passed away on May 22, 2022, in Bernice, LA. Jeff was a man whose heart belonged to the woods of Northeast Louisiana and the scrublands of Schleicher County, Texas. Throughout the year he could be found outside either hunting, fishing, or teaching his son or plethora of nieces and nephews how to hunt and fish. He always had a laugh, a smile, a joke, or a story to fill the hours.

He loved military movies, and always had a soft spot for the various critters that found their way into his home (especially the beagles and Australian shepherds). He valued good food, a good cigar, and family above all. As a longtime member of both the Army National Guard and the Air Force Reserve, his sense of duty and respect for tradition were an integral part of his life and relationships. Jeff lived a simple, full life, one that left its mark on all of us left behind. He had a heart of gold and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Ernst was preceded in death by his parents, Walter James Ernst, Jr. and Beverly Stockland Ernst; and his brother, Timothy Lee Ernst.

He is survived by his son, Keegan Ernst; his siblings, Thomas Ernst, Suzie Ernst Perot and Mike Perot, and Jay Ernst; and best friend, Angie Forbes; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Collins Coon, Cole Forbes, Tim Ernst, Josh Varnado, Kyle Moore, and Joe Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Britt Trichel and Jim Gentry.
