Funeral services for Mr. Jeffery Glen Ray, age 61 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home with Bro. Aleck Nyegaard officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Jeff was born July 24, 1962 and won his ultimate healing from cancer on June 29, 2024. He graduated from Linville High School, class of 1980. Jeff went to work immediately after graduating high school, holding various positions along the way. He began his career as a mechanic and truck driver for W.D. Roberson, Thomas Joe Miller, and Lee Brantley. Jeff also worked as a Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendent at the poultry plant for 14 years. He later worked another 10 plus years at Entervest as a Natural Gas Technician. In his spare time, Jeff was a volunteer firefighter for Linville/Haile district and was on the HAZMAT team. He was always willing to help someone regardless of the of cost to him whether it be family, friends, or a complete stranger. He was always glad he could help.

Jeff loved being outdoors. He loved all things nature, especially related to the water. He loved fishing with his brother, Sidney, as well as Mr. Richard and Chris. Just being on the lake/river was relaxing to him. He also enjoyed hunting and watching the wildlife. Jeffs favorite was the osprey and the Eagle flyovers. He loved critters of all kind. Jeff had rescued a Nutria Rat one time and he absolutely loved him. He had horses, geese, dogs, chickens, and a beloved turkey named Turk Turk. It was a beautiful friendship. Jeff would often get caught by his family dancing with the bird in the yard. Jeff always looked forward to conversations with his FAVORITE niece, Angie, whether it was in person or on the phone, about all of life's happenings. She brought him so much joy. He loved and cherished all the conversations and time with his kids and his grandson as well. His immediate family and extended family (blood and friends that became family) gave him so much pleasure and he loved them all with all of his heart.

Jeff fought cancer hard because he loved all of us with a vigor and a pureness, I only hope we can all learn from. He loved us all more than he hated the cancer, and for that we all got extra time for him to teach and loved us all. None of it was in vain. He leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved him dearly and will miss him deeply.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Shine and Oceal McKinnie Ray; niece, Jill Sutton; brother, Gregory Ray; sister, Marguireete Nowlin; and brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Bessie May Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Barbie Foster Ray; son, Kenny Ray (Brittany); daughters, Chloe Ray and Courtney Morrow; grandson, William Morrow; sisters, Sharon McGraw (Charles) and Sue Sutton (Johnny); brothers, Chris Ray and Vernon Ray (Betty); special friends, Judy Ray, Chris and Cherie Shows, Jheramy and Misty Smith, Beth Stevens and Walker Burson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home.
