A memorial service for James "Flop" Stevenson, 75, of Farmerville, La., will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.  Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Stevenson passed away on June 17, 2021.  Flop was an outstanding basketball player for Jonesboro-Hodge High School where he earned a four year scholarship to play for Northeast Louisiana University, in Monroe, La., under the direction of Coach Lenny Fant.  There he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  Flop taught school and coached in Lake Arthur, La. for a number of years.  After leaving there, he was employed by Bell South Telephone Company, working in Jonesboro, Ruston and Farmerville, and retired after 32 years of service.

Flop was very proud of his family and he loved to tell everyone about his children's accomplishments, especially how they were doing in life.  He truly loved his grandson, Paxton, and enjoyed watching him grow up.  Times spent with his family will never be forgotten.  To know Flop was to love him.  He will truly be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by his parents, Hot and Dot Stevenson.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Stephanie "Punkin" Stevenson Lipton & husband, Walter and Jay Stevenson & wife, Cissy; grandson, Paxton James Stevenson; sister, Ladell Maxwell & husband, Eddie; his love for over 45 years, Sandy Stevenson; special nephew, Andy Maxwell; nieces, Jenny McGee and Chandler Hill Sampson; his number "two's", Katy Patterson and Daniel Patterson; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. ~ 2:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel of Farmerville.
