Funeral services celebrating the life of James Delwyn "Pete" Odom of Bernice, age 87, will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 10:00 am at Beulah Baptist Church of Spearsville, LA with Rev. Adam Holloway officiating. Interment will follow in private service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Farmerville, LA under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Pete was born on June 6, 1933 and passed away peacefully on September 6, 2020. In short, Pete Odom was love. The love he had for his Lord, his family & friends, and life in general will never be forgotten. Coming from meager beginnings and working hard every day that he could, Pete helped to make an amazing life for his family and instilled a profound skill set found in each member of the family of how to make ends meet. He never met a stranger and if you stood still long enough, a hug was eventually going to happen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha; daughter and son in law, Janice & Lucien Savage of D'Arbonne; granddaughter and husband, Amy & David Walsworth of Jonesboro, grandson, Greg Hicks of Farmerville, and granddaughter, Sarah Jones of Farmerville; beautiful great-Grandchildren, Mariah Walsworth Dunn, husband, Devon Dunn of West Monroe, Gabe, Emma, & Chloe Walsworth of Jonesboro, and Addison & Peyton Hicks of Farmerville; also great great-grandchildren, Ellie & Everleigh Dunn; and great great baby girl, Ezra Dunn due in December.
Pete is also survived by his brother Jesse Reed Odom & wife, Sondra of Conway, AR and sister, Mary Alice Dudley of Laran, along with Chucky, Terry, & Cathy Reynolds as loving steps.
Pete is preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Jo Odom; daughter, Pam Odom Jones; father & mother, Whit & Willie Belle Odom; sister-in-law, Judy Odom; and brother-in-law, Murray Dudley.
Pallbearers will be Chucky Kelley, Terry Kelley, Mike Colvin, Roger Dudley, Scotty Thomas, Donnie Brantley, J.J. Johnson, Stan Elkins, & Ricky Hayes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Ross O'Bannon, W.C. Russell, Bro. Connie Ward, A.J. Smith, Bobby Joe Oliver, Bill Mitcham, and Orville Doster
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 5:00 pm ~ 7:00 pm at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
Any memorials can be mailed to the Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund at 585 Beulah Church Road Farmerville, La. 71241.
