Funeral services for Mr. James Eino Nevala, age 86 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Mr. James was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a Deacon at Crossroads Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a member of the Gideons Ministry. Mr. James was a retired school bus driver for the Union Parish School System and a poultry farmer. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he never met a stranger. He lived his life with a happy heart.

Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, Eino and Martha Anderson Nevala; two brothers, Martin and Arnie Nevala; and brother-in-law, Don Mattonen.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Nevala; two sons, Danny Nevala and wife Alicia and Bill Nevala; two sisters, Maria Somero (Earl) and Nina Mattonen; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Nevala, Inez Malone, and Dovie Frith; grandchildren, Erin Nevala, Calvin Nevala, Russ Nevala, and Nick Nevala (Julia); great grandson, Noah Nevala; numerous nieces and nephews; childhood friend, Bernie Mica; and friends in numbers too large to count.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Brantley, Royce Temple, Paul Eubanks, Lavell Dodd, Allan Dodd, Gary Mashaw, Joel Rhodes, and Les Parker.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Crossroads Baptist Church.
