A memorial service for Mr. James W. "Dub" McKinnie, 92, of Farmerville, La., will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, 1:00 PM at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, La.
Mr. James McKinnie passed away on September 10, 2021. Mr. James was a distinguished member and proud veteran of the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army as a private, worked his way up through the ranks, and retired from the Army as a Lt. Colonel. He was what you refer to in the Army as a "Mustanger". Mr. James was in the Korean conflict and served two tours in Vietnam. Throughout his service time, he was awarded: A bronze Vietnam and Korean star with oak leaf cluster, a silver star, a Korean Campaign medal, two Tours of Vietnam medals, and he was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Mr. James was a very hard worker. He enjoyed gardening, being outside, and he loved to watch wrestling matches on TV. Mr. James was a retiree from the United States Postal Service after serving 20 years through the Monroe post office. Mr. James McKinnie was the last living member of the John McKinnie Family of Marion, La.
Mr. James is preceded in death by: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Melvin McKinnie.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 48 years, Elsie Presley McKinnie; daughter, Rosemary J. Anderson (Larry W.); two grandsons, James E. Anderson and Larry W. Anderson Jr.; one great-grandson, Nathan Bradach Anderson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
