James Terral Brown, 75, Bernice, La., passed away on February 8, 2020 in Bernice, La. with his family around his bedside.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Weldon Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 12, 2020 at Weldon Baptist Church with Brian Bucker and Rev. Michael McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Weldon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville, La.

James was born in Dubach, La. to Annie Mae and Norman Brown on June 23, 1944. He graduated from Dubach High School in 1962. He married Sharon Ann (Boyett) on July 24, 1970 at Weldon Baptist Church in Bernice, La. He began his 37 year career with the Louisiana DOTD as a surveyor and bridge inspector, and in 1999 he retired after having progressed to the level of highway engineer. He was a faithful and active member of Weldon Baptist Church for many years where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Discipleship Training instructor, and on numerous committees.

His faith, family, and country were extremely important to him. The love he had for his Savior was evident in each work spoken in his prayers. His one earthly goal was to share and show Jesus with anyone and everyone that crossed paths with him. The time and location to be a faithful witness about his Lord and Savior did not matter to James; he shared the Gospel in person and on the phone, at home and in public, and with family, strangers, doctors, and nurses. He saw people as God intended; created in the image of a loving Lord, in need of his Grace, Love, and Mercy. For years, before his health limited his physical ability, James and his brother in Christ, Mike Kinnison, could be seen knocking on doors and visiting with their neighbors throughout the Weldon community.

James is preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mae; father, Norman; brother, Norman Eugene; sister, Catherine Louise Durrett; brother, Clyde Lavon; sisters-in-law, Jessie Marcelle Boyett and Barbara Ann Brown; brothers-in-law, Thomas Donald Durrett, Sr.; nephew, Paul Allan Daniel.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Brown of Bernice, La.; son, Brad (Jennifer) Brown of Bernice, La.; daughter, Christy (Brian) Bucker of Haughton, La.; son, Casey (Lacy) Brown of Bernice, La.; grandchildren, Madison Brown, Ally Brown, Bethany Brown, Briley Bucker, Carlos Williams, Tucker Brown, and Charlie Brown; his sister, Betty (John) Daniel; his brothers, Charles (Dorothy) Brown and Kevin (Angela) Brown; sisters-in-law, Jean Brown and Liz Brown; brothers-in-law, Freddie (Sheila) Boyett and Kent Boyett; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Boyett, Michael Boyett, Tim Brown, Wayne Busby, Steve Clark, Milas Jo Davidson, Ricky Rea and Carlos Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Weldon Baptist Church.

James' family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Johnathan Davis, Dr. Brian Harris, Dr. Paul Schuler, Christi Naquin and the entire nursing staff of Pierremont Cardiology, the nursing staff of Reeves Memorial Clinis, the staff of Bernice Pharmacy, Joanna Bagley of VieMed, Nikki Albritton, Heather King, Paula Wall and Allison Wilson of Professional Hospice Care of Ruston, La.

The family would like to extend an extra special sentiment to Sue Hall for her selfless years of volunteer service to James. Though a cousin-in-law, she was more like a sister to him. James highly valued her nursing and medical knowledge and help providing expert care from his head to his feet. There are no words to express how appreciative the family is for her (and her husband, Dale) loving devotion to provide him with care and friendship for many years.
