James Evans Bayles of Point, La, age 89, passed away May 23, 2025 at the home of his eldest daughter surrounded by many family members and friends. James was born September 12,1935 in Point, Louisiana.

Lovingly known as Nitty Gritty to his hunting club family, James was a lover of all things outdoors and spent most of his time in the woods or on Lake Darbonne. He spent many years providing red wigglers to local gas stations in West Monroe, where he and his late wife Annette made their home and raised their four girls.

James is preceded in death by his parents: Ted & Clara Pardue; his sister: Carlene Kyle; his grandson: Joshua David Brown; son-in-law: Gary Tedeton; and his wife: Annette.

Left to cherish his memory are his four daughters: Penny (Bubba) Kenly, Bobbie (Eddie) Bozeman, Debbie Tedeton, and Terrie (Matthew) Wilson; his brother and sisters: Larry (Jackie) Pardue, Effie (Randy) Bearden, and Rhonda (Tommy) Boggs; ten grandchildren: Linda (Brannon) White, Lori (Shane) Smith, Scott (Rhalina) Tedeton, Chris (Amy Bayles),Casey (Ronnie Watkins), Steven (Jamie) Brown, Joe Wilson, Vernon Wilson & fiancé Missy, Bubba (Tammy) Bozeman, Keisha (Shorty) Shirley and Maranda (Joshua) Whitner; as well as 23 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and family friends.

James was baptized in 2024 on Lake Darbonne and his family can find rest knowing he is with the Lord. A dual memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Ruggs Bluff Cemetery in Downsville, LA where James and his wife and they will be laid to rest among his family already in heaven.
