Obituary

Funeral services for Hiram Wayne Alford will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, La.  Visitation is set for 9:00 a.m. ~ 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Morris officiating.  Burial to follow at Liberty Hill Taylor cemetery in Farmerville under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Wayne passed away in Monroe, La. on Friday, February 5, 2021 following a lengthy illness.  Born to Frank & Roberta Alford on January 22, 1940.  He graduated from Sicily Island High School where he excelled in sports, especially baseball, where he attained an All-State pitcher status.  Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in Korea.  He loved God and his country and stood firm in his beliefs.

Returning from military duty, he located to West Monroe where he pursued a career in the printing field.  He was a former employee of the News-Star as well as other printing companies in the Twin Cities, retiring from Cooley Printers in Monroe, La.

Following retirement, he moved to Farmerville in 2005.  He was so happy out on his tractor and was very prideful in caring for his home and yard.  His hobbies include hunting, fishing, gardening and sports.  He was of the Baptist faith, having been raised in Pine Hill Baptist Church at Sicily Island, La. and locally attended Salem Baptist Church in Farmerville, La.

Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Roberta Alford; special niece, Sherrie Alford; and special nephew, Ronnie Alford.

Survivors include his wife, Hope Taylor Alford; two brothers, Benny (Sally) and Robert; son, Eric Alford; step-son, Al Roberts (Dorothy); two grandchildren, Erica and Dalton; five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
