Funeral services for Ms. Helen Jean Redden Snell Davis, age 84 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 24, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, LA with Bro. Mickey Alexander and Bro. Dewayne Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
The dash between these two dates is what we will remember today. Helen was born September 23, 1939to Alfred P. and Honor B. Rogers Redden in Fairbanks, LA. She was fifth of seven children born to that union. She married the father of her children on August 19, 1953. That union brought five children, 11 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. Helen married Marvin Davis on February 2, 1985. They were married for 33 years before his death on July 14, 2018.
Helen went by many names; Daughter, Sister, wife, Mother, Mawma, Granny, Aunt Helen, and Ms. Helen. Most important name was Child of the King. Helen knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was faithful to her faith and her church, Enterprise Baptist in Farmerville. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by everyone.
Helen went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 22, 2024 after a brief illness. Helen was surrounded by her loved ones at her passing.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Alfred, Jr. and Harvey Redden; sisters, Patsy Sellers, Ruby Nell Chancellor, and Kay Ann Lowry; and her husband, Marvin Davis.
She is survived by all her children; LaJuana "Puddin" Snell, Martha Dupree, Paul Snell, Norma Snell, and John C. Snell, Jr. (Debbie); grandchildren, Toni Donavan (David), Chris Snell, John Kevin Dupree, Jr., Charlie Nolan, Brent Snell (Belinda), Jimmy Snell, Trey Snell, Josh Dupree (Jordy), Lenny Snell, Jeffrey Snell, and Ashley Place; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Cindy Elee (Larry); brother-in-law, Robert Lowry; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons; Charles Nolan, Jr., Nicholas Dupree, Matthew Dupree, Ian Donavan, Jonah Dupree, Brenson Dupree, Cane Snell, Warren Snell, and Jeffrey Snell II.
Helen will be missed by all that knew and loved her, until we meet again. The family would like to thank Dr. Clayton Branton and staff, Farmerville Drug, Union General Hospital Emergency Room Staff and Dr. Carter, and the Rapides Regional Medical Center Emergency Room Staff.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 24, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home.
