A funeral service for Mrs. Gladys Coplen Harkins, 95, of Bernice, La., will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, La. with Bro. Eric Harkins and Kenneth Trebig officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Bernice, La. under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, La.

Mrs. Gladys Harkins was born October 31, 1926 and passed away February 5, 2022. Gladys was a life-long member of Bernice, La. and the Church of God World Wide Association. Mrs. Gladys was active in the Union Parish Tourism Association and was a historian of Union Parish as well. At one time, she was co-owner of Harkins Appliance in Bernice and was also the hostess at the Depot with the Green Thumb Program. Gladys was also a great cook. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie Ernest and Ollie Anderson Coplen; sister, Verlie Marie Coplen; brother, Reggie Henry Coplen; and husband, Charles R. Harkins, Sr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Charles Robert Harkins, Jr. (Bonnie) and Jimmy Lee Harkins (Dianne); three grandchildren, Anna Lewis (Rob), Eric Harkins (Danielle), and Falon Harkins (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Kailee Harkins, Nathon Harkins, and Jacob Lewis; her special friends, Betty Brooks, Margaret Dennis Neff, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Holloway; along with numerous family members.

Pallbearers will be Kowalskey McNeal, Felix Elliott, John Wortham, James Mayes, Wimp Owens, and Tommy Moore.
