Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Downsville, La. under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Gladys "Joye" Hinton Fellows loved sports – a basketball player, coach, and a zealous Saints and LSU Tigers fan. A native of Downsville, Louisiana her 59-year marriage to Howard "Buck" Fellows, Jr. spanned living in Morgan City and New Orleans, Louisiana, and Longview, Texas – raising two children, Gary and Kelli Lynn Fellows, and spoiling two grandsons, Dru and Peyton Bennett. A passionate educator, her natural teaching ability fueled a 30+ year secondary school teaching career, active church-based educational program development and implementation, and a 25-year career as a Tax Preparer for H & R Block.

Known for her quick wit and generous spirit, Joye never met a stranger. Travels across the United States brought her Leafing in Vermont, lighthouse exploring across the Northeast, hiking and white-water rafting in Colorado, meeting "Elvis" in Missouri, and cruising around glaciers in Alaska.

When you talked to Joye, conversations would center on three key themes – her grandsons, sports, and how she could help you with whatever was unfolding in your life. When crawfish were in season, a 5-lb bag was a good start for her lunch. If you wanted to fish, shell peas, or go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving – she was game.

Her impact is evidenced by the gravity of loss felt by those who knew her – those who loved her – those who learned from her. Go rest high on that mountain .

Joye was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Thelma Mae Allen Hinton; one brother, W. M. Hinton; one nephew, Greg Kennedy; two brothers-in-law, Winston Fellows and Dean Eason; and one sister-in-law, Kathy Eason.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 59 years, Howard "Buck" Fellows, Jr.; one son, Gary Martin Fellows; one daughter, Kelli Lynn Fellows; two grandchildren, Dru Bennett and Peyton Bennett; one sister, Billie Jean Kennedy and brother-in-law, Claude "PeeWee" Kennedy; along with one niece, several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Gary M. Fellows, Dru Bennett, Peyton Bennett, Kenneth Russell, Randy Russell, and Tod Hibbard.
