A visitation for Mr. George David Barkley "Scooter", age 70 of Downsville, LA, will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Scooter was born September 4, 1953 to Rev. David and Mildred Roberts Barkley and passed away July 25, 2024. He was an avid dog hunter and was known as the "Candy Man" to his great grandchildren. Scooter was a construction contractor and he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Scooter was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. David and Mildred Roberts Barkley; and his sisters, Louise Barkley Pace and Audrey Barkley Thomas.

Left to mourn his loss are his three children, Kevin Barkley and wife Shannon, Rainie Barkley Church and husband Preston, and Scooter Barkley all of Downsville; nine grandchildren, Chelsea Barkley Ross and husband Joey, Kaleb Barkley, Cheyanne Barkley Albritton and husband Landyn; Devin Barkley and wife Alaina, Hunter Barkley, Fisher Barkley, Dawson Barkley and wife Samantha, Ashley Bailey and wife Heather, and Seth Church and wife Christian; 13 great grandchildren, Tripp Jones, Tatum Barkley, Charlie, Bryker and Chancie Albritton, Sarah, Emmalyn, and Axeton Bailey, Brodie and Evie Barkley, Lilly Barkley, Lenley Albritton, and Judson Nutt; his siblings, Joey Barkey and wife Terri, Kathy Barkley Coates and husband Kenny, Vicki Barkley Sullivan and Carrie Barkley.
