A memorial service for Mr. Elyon Quitman Powell, age 82 of Downsville, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, December 19, 2023 at Farrar Funeral home Chapel with Bro. Bruce McGee officiating.

Mr. Powell was a commercial fisherman who fished on Darbone Bayou and the Ouachita River. He loved to watch rodeo events on TV, especially bull riding. Mr. Powell loved his grandchildren and his family.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Mansfield and Willie Lee Spurlock Powell; three sisters, Marie Daniels, Earline Sparkman, and Bertha Mae Powell; and four brothers, Fred "Son" Powell, Jr., Jack Taft "Snooks" Powell, Dempsey Powell, and Elroy "PeeWee" Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maudie McFarland Powell; step son, Lee Martin; step daughter, Krista Tanner (Wayne); brother, Pete Powell (Elsie); five grandchildren, Kile Martin, Maggie Martin, Dale Martin, Katie Tanner, and Madison Tanner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service, Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
