A funeral service for Elizabeth Gail Rhodes Durbin, 70, of Farmerville, La. will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Farmerville, La. with Bro. Aleck Nyegaard and Willie Nyegaard officiating.  Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Spearsville, La. under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.

Gail was born on June 16, 1951 and entered the gates of heaven on January 16, 2022.  Waiting to meet her were her parents, Earnie and Oval Rhodes, her very special sister, Peggy Rhodes and a host of family and friends who'd gone on before her.

Gail was a wonderful mother and an outstanding "Mammy Gail" to her grandchildren.  She had a fighting spirit and loved fiercely. Her world revolved around her family. She loved cooking Sunday lunch and spending time with her family.  She threw herself into and supported her girls and her grandchildren in everything they were involved in.  She could often be found at a ball game cheering for "her kids", always keeping score. Gail loved her work as an addiction counselor and helped an untold number of people throughout her 20+ year career.  Always giving her tough love to each client she treated.

Gail was a member of Salem Baptist Church, she loved decorating and participating in church events.  She loved the time spent cooking and taking care of the youth group on summer trips.

Gail is survived by her daughters, Lynde Durbin Scarborough (Dusty) and Dee Durbin Nyegaard (Aleck); grandchildren, Garrett & Grace Nyegaard and Kristina Scarborough. Brothers, Houston Rhodes, Dewey Rhodes (Juanita) and Huey Rhodes (Pete). A host of nephews, nieces, friends & her church family.

Pallbearers will be Dewey "Jed" Rhodes, Jr., Wayne Rhodes, Richard "Monkey" Rhodes, Ronald "Frog" Rhodes, Charles "Sambo" Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes, Willie Nyegaard, and Zach Smith.  Honorary pallbearers will be Monte Rhodes, Shannon Rhodes, Steve Rhodes, and Josh Williams.
