Funeral services for Ms. Eddie Sue Smith, age 86 of Lillie, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 26, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Bernice with Bro. Michael Brandon and Bro. David Fetner officiating. Interment will follow at Bernice City Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Eddie was a graduate of Ola High School. After high school she moved to Germany and spent many years there. Upon returning to Ola, Arkansas, Eddie worked at the Bernice Garment Factory and as a CNA at Junction City Nursing Home and Bernice Nursing Home. While being a resident at Arbor Lake Nursing Home, she was known as "Speedy Eddie". Eddie loved the Lord, her church family, and supported all mission work. She was a kind, tenderhearted, Christlike, loving woman. Eddie cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved caring for her nieces and nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for her sister-in-law Carolyn. Eddie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Eddie was preceded in death by husband: Thomas Smith; her parents: Edward H. and Helen E. Roberts Cook; brother: William Edward "Bill" Cook; and her sister-in-law: Carolyn George Cook.

She is survived by her two daughters: Carolyn Patton Johnson (Tim) and Joey Patton (Fernando); her son: Minor S. "Pat" Patton, III (Stacy); grandchildren Taylor Patton (Taylor), Arianna Patton, Kevin Smith, II (Tavia), Britian Smith (Kailey), Brent Smith (Tabitha), Brett Smith, Damian Patton, Nikkie Tendedorio (Johnathan), and Jessica McLelland; and 15 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Smith, II, Brent Smith, Brett Smith, Damian Patton, Austin Murphy, and Clint Miller.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Arbor Lake, Glenwood Hospital, and St. Frances Hospital for the love and care they showed Eddie.

Visitation was held from5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Bernice.
