Funeral services for Don Hogan, 72, of Downsville will be held at 2:00pm Friday, April 1, 2016 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville with Bro. James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery in Spearsville under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Mr. Hogan went to his heavenly home March 30, 2016. He was a retired Postmaster with the United States Postal Service having served 35 years in the Spearsville and Monroe areas. Don was a Christian and was ordained as a deacon at Spearsville Baptist Church. He had a very strong work ethic and enjoyed working his cows with other cattlemen in our area. Don was a master cattleman and served as president of the Union Parish chapter of the Louisiana Cattleman's Association. In his earlier years, he was a machinist, tool and dye maker and served as a Page for Senator Strom Thurmon in Washington, D.C. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served during the Vietnam conflict. He also served many years as a Mason. Above all, Don dearly loved his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: D. J. & Maxine Hogan; daughter, Lily Hogan Stoppleworth, and 1 brother, Daniel Hogan.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife Barbara Hogan of Downsville; 3 daughters: Carie Green & husband, John of Junction City, AR, Tammy Jerry & husband,
Mac of Junction City, AR, and Donna Rockett & husband, Josh of Spearsville; 1 step-daughter, Cheri McCrary & husband, Ronald of Farmerville; 2 step-sons: Scott Jones & wife, Amy of Ruston and Michael Jones & wife, Melanie of West Monroe; 1 son-in-law, Rob Stoppleworth of Arcadia; 1 brother, Ron Hogan of Huntsville, AL; 1 sister, Katherine Brown & husband, Carl of Aiken, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and a host of many other friends and relatives.

Pallbearers will be Harold Ray Parnell, Malcolm Echols, Layne Parnell, Howard Allen, Rick Hill, and Johnny McFarland.

Visitation is 5-8pm Thursday, March 31st at Farrar Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
